Farmkind: Select Impact Fund

Ending factory farming is not one problem with one solution. Corporations set the standards animals are raised under, governments decide what is legal and what is subsidized, and the food industry decides what alternatives exist on the shelf. Progress needs all three moving, which is awkward for a donor who has to pick a single charity.

The fund spreads a single gift across organizations working on those different fronts: corporate campaigns that win commitments to phase out the cruellest confinement practices, policy work that shifts government support away from intensive systems, and research and development that makes food produced without factory farming better and more available.

The organizations supported are a selected group, drawn from those independently assessed and recommended by Animal Charity Evaluators. Each one has its own page in our program directory.

The best farmed animal organizations are estimated to help hundreds or thousands of animals for the same gift that a conventional animal charity uses to help one. Working out which those are takes more research than any individual donor can reasonably do, and the answer changes. A split across a vetted selection is a way of buying that research along with the donation.
