Rethink Charity’s partner charity toolkit

Many of the Canadian donors we support discover Rethink Charity through our partner charities (that’s you). We built this toolkit to help you make the most of your inclusion on the Rethink Charity platform.

• Rethink Charity is an online donation platform where your Canadian donors can easily make one-time or recurring donations to your charity. 

• If you’ve been with us since before Q3 2021, here are two important changes you need to know about: 
  • Your donors no longer need to reach out to us to reduce fees for donations above $200/month or $1,000 at once. Your donors can reduce fees directly, through our online bank account donations. Learn more here. 
  • We have upgraded our systems. All donations made online directly through our Rethink Charity website are no longer being routed through the Charitable Impact Foundation (“Charitable Impact”). 

• Rethink Charity facilitates an international regranting process. Your donations will be regranted quarterly, usually 6 to 8 weeks after the end of the quarter. Track this process at “Where Is My Donation?” 

• Most donations through Rethink Charity are subject to a 4% operations allocation (read more info here). This allocation offsets our costs of operating the platform. 

• You will receive a full quarterly analytics report, with detailed information about our operations allocation, third-party fees, currency conversion, and donor information. 

• We also send you a weekly analytics report with basic donor information, so that you can fast track your fundraising tracking and donor acknowledgement.

• Rethink Charity offers several payment methods: credit card (online), bank account (online), cheque, e-transfer, and wire transfer, as well as cryptocurrency and other securities.

• Rethink Charity offers legacy giving, and has successfully executed bequests for our partner charities. We regularly hear from Canadians seeking to set this up! 

• Donations made through Rethink Charity are generally eligible for employee matching. 

• We answer a ton of donor questions via email and via one-on-one calls. We love our donor community, and providing an excellent donation experience is really important to us, so we work hard at this.

• Canadians have given over $14 million CAD through Rethink Charity since late 2017. We are analyzing 2021 metrics, and we expect it to be our best year yet (!)
