2025 Giving season and matching funds

In Q4 2024, Canadians like you raised over $2.7 million for highly effective charities through our platform. $600,000 of it went to our Global Health Fund and GiveWell’s recommended charities which helped save an estimated 200 lives by providing vitamin A supplements to over 171,000 people, antimalarial bednets to more than 26,000 households, and vaccinations to 1,100 infants.

This giving season, we want to double the amounts raised to GiveWell recommended charities to $1.2 million dollars to save 400 lives and we’d like you to help us achieve that. In order to make reaching the goal possible, we’re announcing a $400,000 in matching funds for GiveWell recommended charities.

Thanks to three generous matching donors, we’ve set up a matching fund of $400,000 for new and returning donors to be matched until the end of the year. Your donations will be matched up to $20,000 dollar for dollar. The offer is available now until the end of 2025 or until the funds run out.

There are still a couple of concrete ways you can double or triple your impact with this matching funds campaign. You can help us spread the word and invite your friends and family to donate to these super effective charitable projects. You could be tripling your impact if you convince others to donate.

Some of the concrete steps you can help:

• Send out three personalized emails to someone who might be interested in giving to super effective charitable projects
• Take the Trial Pledge or 10% Pledge by Giving What We Can and promote it on your socials

Several generous donors have committed a combined $400,000 in counterfactual matching funds on top of their regular giving. These funds will only be unlocked for GiveWell recommended charitable projects as match-eligible donations are made, ensuring that your donation directly triggers additional support.
